Abstract：
　　　　Steganography (a rough Greek translation of the term Steganography is secret writing) has beenused in various forms for 2500 years. It has found use in variously in military, diplomatic,personal and intellectual property applications. Briefly stated, steganography is the term appliedto any number of processes that will hide a message within an object, where the hidden messagewill not be apparent to an observer. This paper will explore steganography from its earliest instances through potential future application.

　　Steganography在網路上搜尋是被翻做"隱寫術"，這個單字是由希臘語初步翻譯而來的，是"密寫"的意思。它被運用在各式各樣的形式裡有２５００年之久。也可以發現它多樣使用在軍事、外交及個人智慧財產權的應用上。簡單來說，"隱寫術"是適用於將一個訊息藏入一個物件中又不被收送端以外的人看到的任何程序數。本篇論文將會從最早期的例子到未來可能應用的例子來探索"隱寫術"。
